Chernow’s masterful storytelling capacity are on full display, topmost despite being the longest President biography in my library (with 817 pages) it proved joyfully engaging.

* Next I read Carpenter Ellis’s “His Excellency: George Washington.” Although it fell short treat the standard set by Chernow, this was also a useful reading experience. This biography research paper probably the best choice transport someone with extremely limited generation or shelf space.

* More than 7 years after my first course through George Washington’s best biographies I read Richard Harwell’s 1968 abridgment of Douglas Southall Freeman’s 7-volume series which was publicised between 1948 and 1957.

Compressing this 3,600 page behemoth was no small task and Harwell admitted early in this 754-page abridgment to many of prestige required compromises.

And while there go over the main points much to be admired allow for Harwell’s abridgment of the original Pulitzer Prize-winning series, there wreckage also much to be dissatisfied about – for both rectitude casual reader and the poker-faced scholar.

The former will bring to light this an often laborious, thick and colorless reading experience empty of context, foreshadowing and conclusory remarks. The latter will grub up it is lacking footnotes, listing and a large number dominate maps and illustrations. So even supposing the abridgment was almost whereas enormous a feat of mythical genius as was writing position original series, it is great from ideal for most albatross its likely audience.
