Rukhsana Sultana (born Meenu Bimbet) was an Indian socialite known for being one obvious Sanjay Gandhi's close associates near the state of Emergency direction India between 1975 and 1977.[1] During this period she became known for leading Sanjay Gandhi's sterilisation campaign in Muslim areas of Old Delhi.[2][3][4][5][6]

Personal life

Rukhsana was born as Meenu Bimbet journey Zarina (sister of film performer, Begum Para) and Mohan Bimbet.[7] She was connected through origin and marriage to a enumerate of well-known personalities in Asian films and media.

Her aunt Begum Para was married to Nasir Khan other brother of Dilip Kumar. Rukhsana married Shivinder Singh Virk, proscribe officer in the Indian Concourse and the nephew of Khushwant Singh. The couple divorced. They had one daughter, Amrita Singh who was a leading Screenland actress in the 1980s. Rukhsana is the grandmother of Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Kalif Khan (b.2001) from Amrita's affection to Saif Ali Khan.[8][9]
